What changed with the boiler or hydronic system?

Tell us whether there is no heat, uneven heat, a cold zone, new noise, water near the equipment, a control message, or a radiator or baseboard that stopped warming.

Is the problem at the boiler, a zone, a circulator, or the controls?

A hydronic problem can begin at the heat source, pump, zone valve, thermostat, control, pressure or water path, or the heat emitter in the room. The system needs to be traced before a part is chosen.

Are radiators, baseboards, or radiant loops heating unevenly?

Uneven heat can involve flow, air in the system, controls, balancing, a zone fault, or the condition of the boiler and connected equipment. The room symptom alone does not identify the cause.

What should be checked before boiler replacement is considered?

The fault, boiler condition, distribution system, controls, venting or combustion path where applicable, property heat needs, and access all affect the decision. An older boiler does not automatically need replacement.

Is the equipment providing space heat, domestic hot water, or both?

A boiler heats the building through water-based distribution. A water heater supplies domestic hot water. Combination equipment can do both, so send the model or a photo when available and describe which use has changed.

What should you do if a carbon monoxide alarm sounds or you smell gas?

If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone to fresh air and call emergency services. If you smell natural gas, leave immediately and call 911 and the gas utility from a safe location. Do not troubleshoot the equipment.

What information should you send with a service request?

Share the property type, the rooms or zones affected, when the change began, what the thermostat or control shows, and any water, odor, alarm, or new sound. Add a model number or photo only when it is safely accessible.
